iMac upgrade suggestions needed. was created by fkey541
I want to upgrade my 2011 iMac 12,2. 1tb internal HD, 20 gigs of ram.
As I use FCPX more and more, long videos, complex, etc. I am bogging down. I have some tax refund money and I want to use it to upgrade my iMac. I want to go to OWC and use the turn key program, SSD new internal drive, maybe an eSata port. But I don't want to waste my money.
Can you direct me to a website or can you tell me what you would do?
Thanks in advance,
Steve

First, don't put your Libraries on your system (internal) drive. Though an SSD internal drive will be snappier system-wise than a SATA drive. Does the 2011 iMac have a Thunderbolt port? If not, the eSATA is the way to go, with a RAID. 16GB RAM is plenty, but more won't hurt.
