Adding "shaky camera" effect in FCP 7? 10 Feb 2014 07:03 #40835

Adding "shaky camera" effect in FCP 7?

Hi guys!

If anyone could help me figure this out without turning it into rocket science, that would
be freaking awesome! :)
I'm new to final cut and need to apply 'camera shakieness' to a steady film clip.. I tried the Earthquake filter, but it was no help ... Can anyone help?

Much thanks!!

There are a couple of free effects on this site that might do what you want. I believe one is called Handheld and allows you to adjust the amount of steadiness, and the other I think might be called Shaky Cam (just what you're asking for). Search the Free FCPX templates section of this site to locate these.

You can also keyframe this effect onto your clip by adjusting the scale and position parameters in the inspector.

UPDATE: Sorry, just noticed you were posting in the FCP7 forum and not FCPX. But I think these effects are also available for FCP7 on some other free plugin sites, but this site will only contain FCPX plugins.

There is an effect called "Earthquake" in the "Video Filters/Distort" menu. You'll need to tweak it to be less earthquake so it will look more like a shaky camera.

Hope it helps.
