A welcome Apple silicon and form factor update to the MacBook Pros, two sizes and two choices of chips.

I'm wondering if a new 16" M1 Max MBP with a 27" monitor would out perform my iMac Pro (maxed out) enough to be worth the cost and hassle? I'll be watching for published benchmarks.

I think there are a lot of variables depending on media and app types. I routinely bounce between a 2017 iMac Pro and a 2020 iMac. Often the iMac outperforms the Pro, because of CPU and GPU differences. But on some projects it's the other way around.
