Another update that fits into a tweet.

I didn't include Object Tracker and focus editing!

I can't see this update in the appstore. I have a Mac on an Intel processor, does that mean that FCPX will no longer be developed on computers with an Intel processor? Is this how this update should be understood?

The update may not be scheduled in all parts of the world yet, but in the App Store menu click on "reload page" and that should force it to appear. It became available for me on an Intel iMac Pro when I did that.

It requires Big Sur 11.5.1 or higher.
So Catalina be gone if you’re an FCP user.

Catalina with 2017 iMac so I will just have to wait...
I don't want my computer to slow down if i download Big Sur.
New Mac mini should come around 2022.

So if I don't spend a ton of money to buy a brand new MBP, I get basically nothing in this update but bug fixes that should have been done three years ago. No audio mixer, nothing of practical use for daily broadcast work, nothing but a tracker I'd never use. Good bye FCP, hello Resolve. Apple has disappointed me with letting FCP/Motion/Compressor go stagnant for too many years. I just don't think they really care about the pro apps that much. A tracker, and that's it? Shame...

As has been the case for years now, the pro app updates don't show up in the Update section of the store. Do a search for each pro app, go to it's page in the App Store, the button will now read Update. Apple has let these apps stagnate for years now, and can't even get the App Store updates to work correctly? Seriously?

CAREFUL! FCP 10.6 crashes upon launch. Macbook Pro 15" 2017 (max ram&gpu). Tried starting with option+alt to reset preferences. Nothing. Motion & Compressor seem to work.

iMac Pro and I'm getting horrible results from the tracker. TrackX does an infinity better job. Sorry, being totally honest, but go ahead and flame me for my honest opinion.

I've just tried out the tracker on a late 2013 MacBook Pro with great results. ( I mostly use Coremelts 'Track X' and 'Slice X' ) I would suggest that if you haven't already, watch the Ripple training video showing new features of 10.6 as although the tracker is easy to apply to a clip some things are not immediately obvious like changing the analysis method between point cloud or machine learning manually or turning on the ( optional ) 3D rotation etc.

Saw the video, aware of all of that, if it's not a human face, it doesn't track well, in the hours I spent testing.

Sounds like you're pretty frustrated for sure. But this comment is incorrect. The App Store updates have always shown the pro apps updates for me, and this is exactly where I downloaded them all from last night. I have never got them from any other place. iMac Pro, MacBook Pro and Mac Pro Towers.

The Macbooks look fantastic.

FCP 10.6 ? Still no audio mixeeeeeeeeeeer

Still no audio mixer, still no collaboration tools, lots still missing. But thank the gods of IT that we got tracking, which we've actually had for a very, very long time now. Apple is more invested in iPhones, so apps will simply follow what the latest iPhone candy requires.

You'd think with Apple being so Resolve friendly during the presentation that B-Raw would have been in 10.6. It certainly didn't look like there was any of the alleged feud between Blackmagic and Apple.

Does Resolve's tracker offer ML-driven 'Intelligent Object Selection' as FCP10.6 does?

Ben I'm also desapointed by this update, but my choice stay for FCPX. I know very well DVR and I'm not ready for slow rendering, lots of bugs, doing track mapping at every edit, Using really slow Fusion instead Motion, making really slow AAF ...
But agree that Apple did not hear pro users. Where are scrolling Timeline, better keyframe editor with bezier tools, Dupe detection in timeline, collapse Multicam option, Media Management library, transition alignement, draggle Timeline markers, More color for markers, Match frame source clip for Multicam, Braw support... ?
I'm the only editor using FCPX in France Television and I know why, for me this editing tool stay in advance, but please Apple, hear us !
