TKY FCPX Multi-pack Split Screen Effects DEBUGGED 29 Jul 2011 14:01 #632

I know has already been posted here by someone else but there was a "bug" in the previous versions of these effects that meant the Drop Zone video didn't play correctly - this has now been fixed. If you have downloaded the previous version I would recommend you replace it with this one.

I will have to post in two parts as there appears to be an upload limit which is exceeded if I post the full set at once.

WITHDRAWN
There are controls for:

- Drop Zone sources;
- Border On/Off, Width, Color and Feather;
- Source Image Position and Scale.

The pack comes as 2-way, 3-way, 4-way, 6-way, 8-way and 9-way options.

The additional 3-way assymetric effect also has controls for corner roundness, and position of each of the "boxes" which can of course be repositioned to your own layout and animated into any position with the usual FCPX keyframing controls.

Good to know it's useful. Do please let me know if there's anything you would like changed, or approached differently. I think the assymetric layout is a more interesting way to go with split screens generally, but I have only tried this with the "3-way assymetric".

All the best.

Hi Simon

Yes the 3 way Asymmetric is the one that i have played with the most so far.
This video shows some nice split screen work vimeo.com/18152363
The 3 way option with the 2 smaller windows at the top and the wide narrow window at the bottom looks good. I guess there are so many different options it's hard to choose what options to include.
Again thank you for your work.
Cheers

Hey, yes that's a really nice video - gotta get to India at some point!

I think I'll try making a 4-way effect that can be used assymetrically as I thought that looked very interesting.

These are great, much better than building my own, thanks.

Where exactly do the clips go once they are assigned to the effect?

Re: TKY FCPX Multi-pack Split Screen Effects DEBUGGED 20 Aug 2011 02:54 #916

Hi Simon,
I installed the split screen folders in my Motion/Effects folder in FCPX and I see the effect when I apply it to a clip, but I cannot seem to select a source clip for the sections of the split screen. I am clicking the image well and then going to my event browser to select a clip and I have also tried to select the clip once it is beside the split effect in the viewer but it still says no source selected in the inspector. What am I doing wrong. Please help, I really like your split screen effects and would love to use them.
thanks,
Roger

Hi Roger

Here's a link to a "How To" I've just written up that answers this question.

fcp.co/forum/7-how-to-tutorials/917-faq-...effect-templates#917

Do let me know if it's not clear enough or you still can't get it to work. It does seem like a bit of a fiddle until you've done it a few times.

Hope you get some use out of these effects - any feedback or suggestions for improvements are always appreciated. :)

Cheers.

Simon
