A very simple one based on an old favourite but it does work nicely especially as a quick transition - a blur combined with a dip to color effect. There are controls for blur amount and "dip to color" color. The default is black but lots of other colours can be interesting.

If anybody has ideas for transition effects they'd like to see (even if it's only a vague idea of something to try) please let me know.

I wish I could say my contributions were anywhere near as valuable as yours have always been - it feels like a real cheat not having to code this stuff like you and others used to do so heroically in the days before FCPX/Motion 5! My coding efforts were always shockingly basic
