Is there a way or plugin that can make the footage roll in a HORIZONTAL direction as opposed to the vertical roll (Bad Film plugin)? Thanks

simple, just rotate your frame (no plugin needed in FCPX) - then you can expand it to fill the new frame if you want

select your clip in the timeline, then click the little blue transform button, a box will appear around your frame in the viewer (make sure you are viewing about about 50%, hover your mouse close to the corner until you get a rotate arrow, then go nuts (by that I mean, have fun with it)

There's an effect in Motion that does what you want, so I've published it as a Motion template so you can use it in Final Cut Pro.
