Knock out text was created by KGVideoEditor
Hi everyone,

I started using final cut x from final cut 7. A client of mine wants me to use the "knockout " text effect, and for some reason when i play the video it doesn't appear. it appears in audition, when i trim it, even when i lower the opacity in the actual video itself. what am i doing wrong?
thank you.

"Knock out"? Do you mean showing a background video only through the text? Not sure how/why you're doing that with an audition. Simply make sure the text clip on top has it's Composite Mode is set to one of the Stencil modes. If you make an Audition clip of different text clips, each one has to have it's Composite mode set individually. If the backgrounds are an Audition, you'll need to copy the text clip, and paste it on top of each individual background. The text clip will be "Connected" to each background individually. Remember, the top clip is Connected to a specific clip inside the audition, not the "location" on the Storyline.

What I do is make Compound Clips of each background and text, then collect those Compounds into an Audition.
