FCPX Chroma Key Question - New Problem was created by retepnikrap
Just thought I was on top of keying and now have a new issue.
thanks to advice from the forum I was on my way, until I changed cameras, just shot same footage with a different HD camera (canon SLR) and when I apply the keying I loose most colours except red see attached image 1. Output is .mov, I also tried converting it to .mp4 but same result. The original footage I filmed with a panasonic keyed OK see image 2.
It's not the settings in FCP as I have tried again with the panasonic footage and all OK, however apply keying to canon footage and all red. I assume it has to be the camera settings but I'm a little stumped, any help appreciated.
thank you

sorry, no attached in sight.
(when you write your post, click the 'Add File' button, select one file from your drive, jpg/max1000pix preferred. repeat for several files)
the format of the clip doesn't matter.... green gets keyed.
add a screenshot of your timeline - sounds to me, some misorder of foreground, background, effect ....

Try saving the screen grabs as jpegs, then attach them, png seems to not do so well here, would love to see the problem, and the solution!!

I've shot Panny, I shoot Canon, I've mixed the two, never had issues. Right off the top of my head, I'd open the Video Scopes. Go to the RGB Parade scope. Post that screen shot also, of the problematic Canon footage.
Did you use a different set of lights? Different location? Without screen shots, we don't know.
I'm simply going to assume at this point the Canon is adding way too much green hue to the image it records for some odd reason. Or something is happening and you're not ending up with a raw Keyer effect.
- In the Keyer effect's Inspector settings, pull the Strength slider to zero. That turns off automatic settings.
- Then click on the Sample Color tool (square tool) and draw a square over a green screen in the background. Does that help at all? (You can apply more than one sample selection, too.)
- Also, the effect automatically applies Spill Level for you. Pull the Spill slider to zero, see what happens.
Just curious for you to try that really quick and see. Could give a ton of information to us even without screen shots. With screen shots, I'd ask you do those things anyway. Basically, you're manually selecting the area to key, not letting the keyer automatically assume things for you.
