Recent news of drastic changes by Scott Kelby (Kelby One, formerly NAPP)

... and Larry Jordan seem to be experiencing very drastic changes and are seeking solutions.

I have been around long enough to realize that change is inevitable ... but this appears as though the bottom has fallen out of a once booming business model.

I'm also puzzled by the fact that these are to very savvy businessmen and it seems the winds of change caught them by surprise. This doesn't seem to be a short term adjustment that will be alleviated by marginally reducing staff, such sweeping and massive paring of their staffs/teams indicates a much deeper issue.

Seems there should have been some precursor indicators before facing the decision to regroup.

No one was caught by surprise. Larry's transition has been a very long time in the making. The training industry is not what it once was, and isn't very lucrative, considering what is necessary to produce this stuff.

Scott Kelby (not Kelly) is the founder of the former National Association of Photoshop Professionals organization and Photoshop World extravaganza and has authored instructional and how-to books on many topics concerning Adobe software (mostly photo released) by the dozens over the past couple of decades.

Kelby One is now his unified effort of NAPP and Kelby Training ... it seems he pulled down his open letter about the massive layoffs he implemented in recent days.

Here is the original Petapixel story I first read on the matter:
