Trouble keeping audio organized with FCP X's magnetic timeline? I just posted an article that can help you out. Check it out and share any other tips you use for organization.

Excellent Tip. I hadn't though of using adjustment layers for that.

This is really a great workaround for audio organization in the FCPX timeline.
The fact that you can use Title layers (or video adjustment layers) to separate audio tracks really shows how flexible is FCPX compared to other NLEs, where Audio and Video live in two separate worlds. Probably that's why nobody thought of this as a solution for audio organization, because we are still pretty much attached to the old way of thinking.
The only downside to this organization method that I see is that you have to manually place the clips under its corresponding heading... which in a way, can be as time consuming as patching is in other NLEs.
Not having to worry about patching stuff is one of the main workflow advantages and joys of editing in the FCPX trackless timeline. But until Apple develops an automated solution for timeline organization based on Roles, like Disproportionate Pictures suggested in his very interesting article , this is the best we can do for now.
Anyway, thanks for sharing your tips and tricks and good luck with the short film!

Glad to share the tip. Luckily, if you organize your headings ahead of time, putting the clips under the right heading should be fairly strait forward. I've seen that article though, it's a good one! I hope we can get roles based organization some day.
