From the simple to the very complex:

- Keyboard shortcuts for scaling the timeline up and down
- A way of quickly previewing Motion projects using standard FCPX project defaults (associating rigged PARs with each)
- A way of creating a group out of a single layer, moving the layer into the group and keeping all effects, behaviours etc. applied to the group ('precompose')
- Text and number manipulation behaviors
- A way of defining our own on-screen controls to publish in Final Cut Pro X
- The ability to add Quartz Composer patches (including behaviour links) to projects

- A plugin for Premiere and After Effects (on the Mac only) that plays back Motion projects, effects, titles etc.

I'm not sure I'm following exactly what you're describing here. What is the difference between this and Grouping one layer and moving it's filters/behaviors to the group level, as you can now? I think you're talking about something different I'm not getting. And it sounds like it could be interested once I can wrap my head around it.

It is very similar, but my option would also deal with parameter link behaviours that refer to the layer, and modify them so they refer to the newly created group.

Why link to parameter behaviors and filter that already effect the layer in that exact same way? Change it for the Group, it changes for the layer, right? I'm not following.

Do you mean a specific type of Group, in which all layers linked directly to parameter behaviors? But how? The "Group" doesn't have the specific behaviors that an object layer would have for that. How would airbrush line or other such parameters link to a Group that doesn't have those?

I know you're on to something here. I'm just not following. Please forgive my ignorance. What exact parameter behaviors can a Group have that a "Link" to object layers would benefit from, as a "Link"?

If other layers have parameters linked to the target layer's properties and filter parameters, I'd like my new version of the group command to optionally modify all the references so they link to the new group instead to the original layer.

More feature requests:

- More control over publishing parameters, the ability to group parameters inside disclosure triangles, information-only fields
- A new kind of publishable rig that can collect multiple parameters (unpublished as well as published) in a user-extendable menu of presets

So, you can create a new Group, from a single layer, and have all the other object layers you put in it, have the Link parameter behavior automatically applied? So, like, if I add a .mov object layer to it, how will it link to the Control Point parameters of a Shape? I'm confused.

Can you describe a specific situation and how this would work? How would the Group know what parameters to "Link" to what parameters of different types of object layers?

Am I on track with the overall concept at least?

You can do that now. Rigs don't have to be published. What exactly would those "menu" presets be? Again, sounds nice, but how would it apply real world?

I'm simply curious, and trying to get it. I'm not challenging, although I know this could sound like that. It's not.

Sorry for not being clear. You are talking about something that's more advanced.

Say I have a layer A which a few other layers B, C, D etc. are linked to using behaviours. Sometimes I need to make a layer more complex - perhaps by adding more elements. I'd like a command that turns layer A into Group A with the behaviours applied to the B, C layers modified so they refer to Group A, not its only element, layer A.

I'm talking about storing combinations of selected parameters in an effect presets.

For example, you might have a title that has various sliders and colour controls that you want to make available to users, but also have a pop-up menu that stores combinations of these settings as presets. These would show off how different settings produce varying results, and would help users create and share their own presets with collaborators.

It would be a rig that would have at least one published parameter included.

More features

- (in FCP X) The ability to keyframe published pop-up controls and check boxes
- Make more Motion effect parameter controls publishable, and the ability to choose which elements of the controls are published, such as only some elements of a keyer control.
- The ability to add tooltip text to parameters you publish
- The ability to add live URLs to published effect UIs
- Emitters that have negative starts (currently possible by setting the timing In of emitter layers to a negative value)
- The ability to rig whether behaviours are active or not (like a link behaviour's Custom Mix)
