Hi Again

I need to have a counter, the requirements are the it goes from 00:00 (HH:MM) to 90:00 (HH:MM) in second intervals... so far in FCP / Motion i could not get it to do this without a plugin called DH_CounterX ... bought this a while ago and it works, but its limited

Anyone out there suggest a way to do this in Motion 5 / FCPX (in AE i used a script ... why the heck does apple not allow scripts !!!!!)

Thanks !

Graham

… and all soccer-Dads and plugin-welderers shout "Here, here!!"

That is a stone-old request, a tic-based Numbers or Time generator, counting beyond '60' … actually, for my soccer-report-bugs, I help myself with a very rude method:

When the automatically generated TC shows 01:05:33 (h:min:sec), I plaster a mask over '01:5' and my custom rig allows me to select from 6,7,8,9 …

>>> Upper left in Motion, 'Provide Motion Feedback', make an Enhancement request.

not-so-fun fact:
tried all sorts of Link behavior to 'trigger' a number generator, with some off-set or wotever, … no joy: the 'Text', 'Numbers' nor 'Time' listed in the Link-behavior can be read-out to affect other elements.....

conc. scripting … we Motionists look for years for some from-the-ground-new MotionX; basically Motion hasn't changed (aside GUI cosmetics, sind vers 3/2006

Hi K

And another season starts ... I'm probably going to stick with the DHCounterX and yes I remember this advice from last time. Question how do you really trigger the rig to know when HH roles over ? is it really manual ?

Cheers

Graham

Hi,
for my soccer videos I am using the TC of the clip (works as well great with Multicam Clip) and apply a re-timing so that the clock starts with the kick-off.
See

Luckily the games only last 40min so no issue with the hour. Sometimes I apply as well a display like "4. min" or "21. min" where I then just apply a mask over the TC. Of course needs some manual intervention when the TC changes from x min to xx min.
hope that helps.

yep, manually.
Sad, but I haven't found any other option with Motion... And I'm too stupid to 'program' with Apples plugin SDK toolset:
developer.apple.com/library/content/docu...PlugSDKOverview.html
(you need a Developer Account to see that site …)

attached the concept of my 'solution'…
look under Published Parameters for the slider to adjust from 0-9

The trick is to make a number generator that counts decimal time from a start point of your choice, then have two other number generators show the minutes part of that decimal time and the seconds part of that decimal time.

Here is a generator that counts 30 seconds from any value you like:

Open this in Motion to see how this works, and make something that works for you!
