Echo Title - Problem

Hi all,

Have just registered to the forum and I hope I can get some help. Let me tell you where I am stuck.

I created the below title with Echo title. The name of the person is too long so I wanted to remove his surname from the big background.


And I modified it as below, I unclicked `face` and it worked. Or I made the surname black and again it disappeared as below. It's exactly what I wanted.



But when I render/export the footage, the surname is always there. I can not hide it. Or I can not change the colour of the surname... Is it a restriction of FCP X ? Any way for me to fix it ? Or can you guys know a different way which can help me hide the surname as in the second screenshot ?
I use FCP 10.3

… that is a tricky one, 'cause the Text Format tools are less 'self-explanatory' then one would expect.
Have a look:



open a copy of that 'Echo'
go to Text/Layout
set the Layout Method to 'Paragraph'
switch-Off 'Auto Shrink'
set 'Right Margin' to any value that fits your needs and visual taste …

as you can see in attached screen-shot: I set the right margin to fit longer names like mine, but for my family name, Motion adds a line-break = poof, gone! :woohoo:

PS- idea; you can 'publish' the Right Margin, to make the length of that line customizable in FCPX …
