Shadows not cooperating

I have masked layers that I want to cast shadows on each other but it's not working. Please see this video for all the details.

check the Z-position of the two layers

because, if both share the same position in depth, the top one casts no shadows, but do on the background (which probably is 'behind' both) …

3D lighting is tricky

all three layers have different z depth (by quite a bit)

made a quick test:



top: both layers same Z-pos (90 pixel) = no shadow
bottom top layer +90 pixel 'higher' to create a significant shadow

Thanks! I see what I did. I did not realize the light itself needed to be at a higher z index. I'm used to another 3D app where the directional light comes from infinity. Problem solved!
