Motion Effect and project size problem

Hello,

I've builded a Motion effect template, to be exactly a grain effect template. I've rendered out some grain footage from DaVinci Resolve (using their great grain filter on a grey background) and put them into a motion effect template.

My Motion project size for this is FullHD (1920x1080) and all my grain layers are the same size (1920x1080) and fill the screen. Now if I want to add this filter inside FCPX project (1920x816) to a gradient, my grain layer is fit inside the frame:

I claim this is because the FCPX project size does not match the grain layer size inside the Motion effect template. But how to make the grain layer inside of the template fill (spacial fill) the screen?

Thanks

… by setting up the Spatial Conform settings to 'fill'? ;)

or, by setting up your template in Motion with your needed res in the beginning, 1920x816

Maybe by setting it up in the desired resolution. The clip in the timeline is already set to fill, but you cannot set an effect to fill.

Either as Karsten suggests, make the Motion Effect project at the required resolution 1920x816, or try adding that resolution as a Snapshot.

1. In Motion, select the "Project" in the layers list.
2. Click Snapshots in the Inspector
3. Click the + button to add a new snapshot and select Custom
4. Set the relative width and height
5. Make any needed adjustments to all object placements in the new snapshot
6. Save

You should now have an effect that will recognize 1920x816 as well as 1920x1080.
