I am trying to type on the sides of a cube and have that cube rotate to reveal the type. If I build a cube out of 6 squares, I can rotate the group they are in. If I set up 6 type layers positioned on the sides and match move them while rotating the cube in the X axis it works, When I rotate Y or Z axis the type layers always rotate from their own anchor point. How do I make the type stick to the side of the cube where ever it rotates?

Here's an example as described above: vimeo.com/143649616 PW: type

I'm trying for an easy solution I can save as a favorite for making kinetic type effects. Where the type transitions in/out without having to keyframe and set everything up each time. Maybe there's a better solution...

Thanks,

-M

What I would try to do is recreate the sides as if they are part of that cube as groups. Create one group layer offset it to match a side and then set the anchor point to the dead center of the entire cube, repeat for all side. Then you should be able to group all the group sides and rotate just that one group and everything should spin evenly.

I did something similarly which can be updated with drop zones or text: motion-master-templates.com/rotating-box/

It is tricky to understand. But just think of the middle of the cube as the Center Point.
Here is a quick video explaining what I mean: quick.as/9lqtpean
