Finishing an unfinished path

Hello All,

I have been drawing a bezier path and accidentally deselected it. I cannot seem to select the end point in order to continue drawing the path. It only wants to start a new one.

I would have thought shift-clicking or some such would work but no such luck. Surely it must be something incredibly simple....

I'm guessing you are talking about a bezier shape? Try selecting the shape and going to the geometry tab in the inspector, there's a "Closed" checkbox that you can use to close the path. Once you do this, if you still need to add points you can use the edit points tool and hold the option-key to add new points along the path.

There are tools you can choose from a dropdown in the gray bar above the timeline.
You can choose Edit Points to do what you're needing. Also, right click on the curve to add points. And right click the end points to close the curve from the menu that pops up.

The only way I know how to continue on a curve is to add more points and kind of edit the curve going backwards.

I've run into this problem several times too. Unfortunately AFAIK there's no way to keep working as you were when you were creating the shape. I find once I have to start with the edit points tool it's not nearly as easy as it was creating the shape initially. My typical approach is to start over unless I only need to add very points to finish. It's a pain but easier than doing much in the edit: editing points seems to be suited for touch-ups not complex multi-point path creation.
