Custom Slider Property Controls in Motion 5

I'm creating an Effect Template in Motion 5 to be used in FCP. I have linked several parameters (blur, opacity, scale) from many layers to the Scale property of the Effect Source layer.

So when I increase the size of the Effects Layer, it controls many other parameters on other layers. This works fine. But the range I want to control is much smaller then the range the size parameter offers.

Instead of linking all the properties to the effects Source layer Scale X, I would like to add my own slider with a range value of 0 - 15. Then I could remap the links to that and publish it.

Is there a way to add a custom property slider to a project. Just a slider that doesn't do anything on its own but I could use to link other properties to?

I have tried adding a rig with a slider. I set the slider to the correct values. But when I go the my property link and choose the rig under Source Object, the Source Parameter section says there are no Compatible Parameters. This particular link is linking the Defocus Amount slider in a Defocus filter.


I would really love to just drag a blank slider into my properties window somehow.

Got it figured out. Instead of linking to the rig, I found you just add the property to the Rig and adjust slider level controls there.
