Hi all,
I'm totally new to motion and just tried making a generator. After I was done I hit Save As and specified a Category name and Generator name, and checked yes for make video preview and include unused media. Upon opening FCP I see it in my generator list, but it shows up as the red "Missing" alert Icon.
However, if I hover over it and chose "open in Motion" from inside final cut, it opens up the working file in motion.
Can someone please tell me what I am doing wrong here? Thanks!

Did you try dropping it into a timeline to see if it was tagged as missing there, or that it works anyway?

1st, I'd never check the make preview option, none the save unused media options. Always leave those unchecked, no need for them, they just waste drive space.
Odd problem, though...

Gotcha. The only thing I can think of is that my Library is on an external harddrive, and the created generator is on my desktop. (Movies->Motion Templates->Generators->TestGenerators

No, doesn't matter where the Library is, as long as the template is in the Motion Templates folder, exactly where you have it. Maybe a trashing of FCPX prefs?

Have you verified that your app versions are up to date?
If FCP is not as up to date as Motion, you may see issues like this since FCP can't open the project created in a newer version of Motion.
Latest are:
Motion 5.1.2
FCP 10.1.3

Oh that's a good call. I've been holding off on updating FCP (from 10.1.1) because I'm in the middle of a few projects.
