Does anybody have a collaborative workflow for Motion 5. I have an VFX artist and myself trying to work on the same project. Any advice would be awesome!

I'd say set up a common Dropbox folder.
There always need to be clear communication in situations like this, to make sure that two people aren't tying to access the same Motion Project at the same time. I'd suggest something a basic folder structure like this-
ARTIST A PROJECTS
ARTIST B PROJECTS
ASSETS
RENDERS
If one person explicitly want to pass a motion project to the other, they copy/move it to the other folder folder- so that no person tries to open another's Motion Project.
All assets can go in a common folder, with the understanding that they won't be changed/replaced without discussing it.
