Trying to use text as a motion path

Hi everyone:

This is my first post. I could not find anything using search.

I am trying to convert my text into a motion path so I can use a particle emitter to follow the path and maybe even leave a trail.

The only way I know how to do this is to create a complex path myself that follows the text. Is there a better way to turn text into a motion path.

Thanks.

Need to rasterize, it has to be a vector shape for stuff to "follow" in Motion. I'm going to take a look at this over the weekend after my class (first FCP X Apple training in LA.).

There's a couple of good Motion users here, they may be able to get to this before I do.

Don't quite follow your thoughts here.

Text is already in vector format. I was hoping there may be some routine to do this since text is just another vector object.

Am I off base on this?

A text layer in Motion is not a vector shape.

If you have Illustrator you can type your text in there, then run this script.

www.motionsmarts.com/downloads.html

llustrator path to Motion shape script and as a motion shape you can now use it as a motion path.

Motion allows any shape to be used as the source for a Motion Path behavior.

Hope that helps.
