Free 3D Nintendo NES controller - Motion Model

Hey guys,

I created a 3D model (kinda) of an old Nintendo NES controller. I did it simply because I'm trying to teach myself Motion and I figured I would share it with anyone else out there, if anyone else is interested.

Its probably pretty rudimentary compared to what most people on this site could create, but I figured I would share anyways, because I'd love to see more people submit "3D Models" for motion.

Nice work. I've trouble myself working in Motion 5. I've tried to build a simple cube in 3D but having everything aligned properly is tough for me. Perhaps there are guys that do more complicated stuff but there are way more who wouldn't be able to replicate that model for years to come...

thanks for posting!

Thanks. I have a hard time getting a perfect cube as well. The easiest way to make perfect cubes is to make a solid cube, instead of a hollow cube with the 6 sides. Albeit, this is prob not the most efficient way to do it. So make a simple square shape, then replicate it in one direction, straight back (or down) however many pixels it is wide. Then make however many 'Points' is needed to make the cube fully 'filled in'. Of course, this only makes a single color cube.... but hey.

I think what would be nice to have is a section at FCP.co that has motion content. Here is what I would like to see:

1. Shapes made from Illustrator. Motion 5 comes with a few...but how about having a good hundred to pull from!

2. Generators

3. Objects such as your 3D nintendo controller...which was really good. I gave up doing 3D in motion and went to Cinema 4D, because having multiple replicators was just bogging my system way down. But maybe with this new mobject we could build a base of 3D objects to share.

Yeah, I'd really love to see people post 3D models made inside Motion for people to use. Especially in its own category here would be nice.

And yeah, that NES controller really bogged down my computer. I'm using a pretty old Macbook Pro, and it was the budget MacBook Pro at the time I got it.

Make do with what I got, until I get something better :)

I love it! It reminds me of my friend's shirt. It has a picture of the paddle and says "Know your roots."

Raisins are the worst and I love making fcpx plugins !

I went to the trouble to make a rubix cube in Motion for a job last year. Ug!

Your NES controller shows a lot of perseverance.

With mObject available now- I think the need for these faux-3D replicator objects is probably pretty limited.

The work with the 3d models needs to be more precise but you have done a commendable job with the 3dmodelling and motion and it will improve in time for sure.
