Import Photos One After The Other

Hi!

I'm making a stop-motion video, and therefore have a lot of photos. When I select them all to import into the project, they all get put in and play at the same time. I was wondering if there was a way to get them to be put in after each other, without doing it manually?

Thanks!

Hi, Sparklyllama, the easiest way to achieve what you want is to use the Pro version of QuickTime Player 7. First, put your photos in a folder and make sure that they carry consecutive numbers (what they usually do, if you shot them on one camera). Then, in QT Player 7, choose "Import > Image Sequence". The software will ask you for the intended frame rate, and voila, you've got your movie. You need to export it, of course, so that you can import it into FCPX for further processing. By the way, instead of "export" I'd choose "save as" and save it as a reference movie. Results in a small ref file, but FCPX can interpret this; you just need to make sure that you don't mess with the folder containing the original photos.

Hi, thanks for your response. I don't have QuickTime Pro. Do you know of any other ways to do it? And by the way, I'm actually using Motion 5, not Final Cut.

Thanks

Motion will import them as an image sequence and play them as a movie. You can easily work with them that way. Not at my computer now (on road with iPad), but in the user manual it is all explained pretty well.
