Is this TVC technique possible in Motion 5 using 3d Camera

Hi Guys was watching this ad several times and am amazed at the movement between different scenes.
Reading the description on youtube the production company said they used stock images and created 3d camera moves to go between scenes.. I would love to get deeper into this technique and was wondering if this type of movement is possible in Motion 5.. I have done some basic camera moves in 3d space but nothing this amazing...
Cheers

Really one of the most basic and simplest techniques to do. I'll post a Motion project file here soon so you can see how its done. Let me just slap one together.

That would be fabulous, I think this TVC has such reality that it really sticks out..
If you could post a project so i could see how you navigate with the camera that would be awesome..
I pretty much thought this was all doable in Motion, so thanks Ben you are a legend..

I threw this together really fast. It is listed on my FCProXUniversity.com web site's Library now, also. It is a project, and an RTF of some explanations. Very rough, very quick and dirty, not a full, detailed tutorial.
I'd export a QT of this project to see what it's actually doing first.

Sorry, but I see very little correlation between the two.
The level of what the ad has would be a complete impossibility in Motion. By mere virtue of the amount of 3D geometry (i.e. camera mapping) involved. You need nothing less than C4D and/or AE for something like that. You could never get anything even remotely close to that with Motion.
Of course if you're in fact just looking for a very simple camera pull through various "cardboard cutouts" like that, sure, go with Motion.

I've done it. You can say it is impossible in Motion, but I've done very similar things. Yes, I can make them more complex in Modo, but I can do very close, pretty much this in Motion, to that level of complexity. I can slice up graphics, layer them correctly, it is possible, I have done it. Again, yes, in a 3D modeling app, you could go further.

Yes, I saw what you did. Unless of course you want to show me something else? But without camera mapping and/or 3D geometry there's no way you're getting that kind of detail and perspective into the animation as shown in the ad. Motion supports neither, therefore: impossible. As "true story" already found out for himself "I have done some basic camera moves in 3d space but nothing this amazing"... that's why.
But feel free to show me something even vaguely comparable that was done in Motion to prove me wrong. I'd love to be. Seeing that you've already done it, it should be easy, no?

As far as I could tell, it was a blend of using AE or Motion and very little 3D. The only 3D I saw was the text and the plane at the end. maybe the fire truck...but i wasn't positive. Other than that I think it was a majority of camera moving backwards in AE or Motion, and precisely placed layers.

well....nvm. on the website it says they used 3d geometry for the project. there is the answer right there.

Look again. You can't achieve any degree of perspective/parallax, which is present in one way of another in pretty much every frame of the ad (every vehicle, the tunnel, the buildings etc. etc. etc. etc. etc.), with simple 2D planes placed in z-space. Which is what you're reduced to with Motion, period. I've been in VFX for a loooong time, I'm pretty sure I know what I'm talking about.
Which is not to say it couldn't have been composited in Motion. But it certainly could not have been created with Motion, which is what "truestory" is looking for. Then again, Ben was going to show us how he did this "basic and simple technique" anyway... so we'll see.
