Help! Motion eats up HD space on export

Help! Motion eats up HD space on export was created by owen35
I recently updated my Retina MacBook Pro to the 10.8.2 Supplement update 2.0 and now Motion is acting odd. I've been working on a project for the past few days, prior to updating I had no problems when I exported a high-rez file. Now, after the update, as the file is in the process of exporting the HD space just plummets. I'll start out with about 64gigs of free space and before the file is done exporting it drains to just shy of 4 gigs!!
Why does Motion now require 60 gigs of drive space to export a file???
The project I'm working on is a very simple animation that runs just shy of 25 seconds. The final file that is outputted is about 650mb in size. This is not that big of a project and I have no idea what process is going on that it requires that much hard drive space.
One other note, the memory does eventually return after about 20 minutes, so there is definitely some temporary process going on.
Does anyone have ANY idea what I can do to fix this?

What format are you exporting, specifically?

I've exported using 2 compressions: Share-->Export-->Same as source & Apple ProRes 422. Both yield the same result.
Again, I've been working on the project for over a week and this is a new problem that has occurred after the OS updated.

That is odd, and I'm not seeing the issue on my rMBP, but, yeah, could be some bug. But here's some things to try first.
BTW, what is the size of that hard drive total?
Anyway, here are some things to try out. It all applies equally to Motion, too.

Thanks, I'll check that out. I'm surprised others haven't mentioned it.
To answer your question, the drive is an SSD with 256gigs. I'm considering reinstalling Motion to see if that fixes it.

You only have about 30 gigs to play with actually before you drive is full. All drives must have at least 10-15% free space. But I don't see your export being that large for only 20 seconds. If you were exporting ProRes 4444 I could see it, but not plain old ProRes 422 if you're only working with HD files.
What are the Project settings?

Well, I'm not quite sure WHY it happens, but I did find what was causing the disc usage. As soon as I turned off "Motion Blur" setting, the export no longer ate up all that hard drive space. I'm going to assume that this is because it creates temporary render files during export and these files are large. But I'm still stymied why it is 60 gigs worth of space. There are no filters, particles, or incredibly difficult camera moves.

All the settings for the Motion Blur are at their default (Samples=8, Shutter Angle=360 degrees). The project itself is 1920x1080 @ 30fps with 1.00 square pixels. Nothing unusual or out of the ordinary.
On export I just simply use the Canvas Setting and start the export. I did do a test yesterday where I sent the project to Compressor and had the same issue with the HD space disappearing.
Thankfully, I can manage this problem on this project, but I'm very concerned about future projects where the duration is longer and/or the animation is more complicated. I could have a situation where I cannot export at all.
