Scrawling Text

I have Motion 5 and I would like the text to appear an inch into the video, then disappear an inch off the Video . I seem to be able to get the scrawling text to appear an inch on the right, or an inch at the left & not both ends. Please Help.

Not sure what you mean by an inch off of the video.

Assume by "and inch into the video" you mean not crawl from the very edge, but appear an inch from the edge of the video.

Here's what I'd do. Highlight the Group layer, use the Rectangle Mask (Opt+R) to draw around where you want it to be visible.

You can adjust the Feather and Falloff parameters if you want it to have a soft edge where it begins and ends.

Now, if you're working on a copy of the Ticker template, this will also cut off the background bar. Which you may or may not want to have happen. And you can rig if the mask is on or off, and if the feathering is on or off.

If you don't want the background color bar to be effected, create a new Layer, and move it into that Group.
