Importing images which does not need render ¿? was created by MijacOnAir
Hi people!
I would like to know what image format do I have to use so as not to have to render all the time in the timeline.
I know the best for video is using an uncompressed format (or not so compressed as for example, H.264) like ProRes 422.
Thanks in advance!

The requirement to render is more related to the performance of your computer than it is a particular file format (with some exceptions). If you are importing media and optimizing that media, on a sufficiently equipped computer you should not need to render those clips when dropped into the timeline. If you apply effects and transitions, etc., then yes, you will see the orange render bar appear above those clips. You still don't need to render those unless they are not playing back to your satisfaction. Many users don not render at all. Upon exporting a project, fcpx will automatically render what is required.
You may want to be sure you turn OFF background render in the fcpx preferences so it won't attempt to do this each time you apply an effect or color correction. Just manually select render on the clip(s) whenever you think you need it.
Here is a list of the Apple supported image formats:

Thank u very much!
The issue is when I put in the timeline my logo throughout the entire video. I have tried always with a PNG file and when putting on the timeline (I forgot to say I'm using FCP 7) the red line that shows "need to render" appears in all the clip. This is a bothering thing because sometimes render last too much.
Now, after taking a look to the supported files, I have tried TGA and the line above the clip appears in green and I can see my image in the preview at least. I think it shows similar with TIF format.

sorry, I should have known you were working in FCP7 and not X because of where you posted. My mistake. Also, the document I linked to was for supported file formats in FCPX. Here below is the supported formats for FCP7. Hope this helps.

Yep, it has to do mostly with hardware as stated, and your Sequence settings compared to the codec of the video files you're editing. It's not so cut and dry, as stated. Try JPEG for graphics, and make them the frame size of your Sequence.
