Voice over tool on Lion

Hi All

I've installed FCP 7.0.3 on a MacPro (5,1) running Lion 10.7.2 at work and find that it crashes when using the voice over tool.

I'm using a usb mic into the machine to record scratch comm. If it doesn't crash setting up the USB mic as a source it defiantly does when you change to 48khz.

I'm trying to record locally but the ultimate aim is to get it working on networked storage.

This works fine in 10.6 and in other applications (e.g. quicktime) on 10.7 just not FCP. I wondered if anyone else has come across this issue and if anyone has come up with a solution.

One problem I've seen in lion with the VoiceOver tool, it try's to record stereo. Try recording your VO in mono.

Yeah defiantly recording in mono. Seems to be most specific changing sample rate to 48khz.

Seems 10.7.3 has given me a solution.

If it's simple VO stuff, do the original raw recording in QT Player if FCP gives you too many headaches.

Would have been my work around but unfortunately its me building the suite for editors who prefer working in fcp. But now seems to work.

If its a network for editing, be sure it's XSAN, or you'll be spinning your wheels.

Yeah original problem was local but 10.7.3 seemed to solve it. I'm going to do some tests in future on shared storage but they are going to be either ISIS and Media Net 5 as thats what company i work for uses. So I'm sure I'll be getting the issue again.

I think the Audio Driver, or lack there of could be a problem. I have a little logitech web camera and stereo and some days mono wreaks havoc with FCP X. My MBox isn't compatible with FCP X so I finally picked up one of these little USB to XLR interfaces and now FCP X seems to love it.

Usb to XLR are really good solution. Think your correct about audio driver it was a bug for some people and not for others look at other forums.

Mine seems to work now so lets hope it stays that way.
