DVCPRO FCP7 sound issue

Hi,
I have recently received a new Panasonic PX800G Camera.
I am required to Shoot and edit in DVCPRO. I edit on FCP 7 with the output going through a DVCPRO tape deck via fire wire. I can capture the footage just fine and it works in FCP. But the moment it goes through the deck you can no longer hear the audio on the time line or the bin. However if you scrub threw the clip quickly you can hear that the audio is present. This problem is not happening with any of our other cameras (one is a year and a half old) any advice would be greatly appreciated.
