I haven't been able to locate a Sony plugin that works with this OS.

Any thoughts?

BPAV, which is the Sony XDCAM format can be ingested in FCP 7 provided that the media is in a folder or card or image that has the same structure as the card it was written in (if memory serves well). Still if you have stray BPAV files, Sony's XDCAM Transfer or Content Browser will allow you to do that. Since you are in Yosemite I would think Content Browser. CB, is commercial, which means you need to by a licence from Sony.
