When I export to quicktime the sound and video do not align. Everything looks fine on FCP timeleine. How do I fix this problem?

Details help. What is the origin (original format/codec) of the clips? Are you using Optimized in FCPX? How exactly are you exporting them, as what format/codec?

It is a .MOV file. I've never used an optimize setting. Everything looks just fine on the timeline and the file plays just fine in Quicktime before I import it.
I export as a Quicktime file. When the exported file plays there are places where the video jerks to a stop and the sound continues.
Thank you.

QuickTime is a library of codecs, so that doesn't give us much to go on.
What is the duration your export?
What is the frame size?
What are your Mac's specifications?

Thank you for your time.
I am going to need to go back to the manual and relearn. I've used FCP for several years and never had so many problems. So back to a learning curve. Maybe part of it is updating to Maverick but I don't have time to mess with this. I'm just dumping files into Toast and burning for DVDs. It will do in a pinch.
Thanks again.

I asked, as I think you're dealing with files that may be difficult for your hardware to playback smoothly. I doubt the user manual will tell you how to fix this problem.

Okay,
So my computer is a MacBook Pro, processor 2.66 Ghz Intel Core i7 w/8gb memory and I have 85gb free space on my hard drive.
The quicktime file I imported are H.264, 1920x1080, 29.97 fps and was just over an hour long.
User Preferences, Render Control, Codec = same as sequence codex. and quality is normal.
The exported QT file was just over an hour long.
I dumped my original .mov files into Toast and processed them for a DVD and all was good, but I can't get FCP to export c usable file.
Does that help?

Depending on the size of your hard drive, you may be running very low on free disk space. 15% minimum is required for a computer to run well. The OS and apps are writing out temp files non-stop, and need that space to function well. If you have a 1TB drive, you need a minimum of 150MB free space. A 500MB drive would need 75MB of free space.
A one hour ProRes file, I've never tried to run anything that long on a MBP, but would think if the system is clean, it should run well.
Your symptoms are typical of a file the Mac is simply having a hard time playing back. If Toast burns the file to a DVD just fine, then there is nothing wrong with the file itself, there's an issue with the hardware (CPU, GPU, RAM, drive).
I'd put that file on an external drive, and see how it runs.

Thank you for your time. I cleaned my hard drive and moved several gb of files and projects to an external drive. This has helped overall. I been our to town and not able to try FCP yet but I think this will be the answer.

Not sure if your problem has been solved or not. If quicktime format can't be outputed correctly. Then how about output as anthor format then transcode into quicktime format? I think this may be much easier to cleaned all your drives. This is just my advice.
