Hello,
I'm trying to edit footage recently shot with the GH4. It's not 4K footage yet FCP7 runs out of memory after a minute's worth of footage on the timeline. I've read that this is a normal problem with editing GH4 footage on FCP7 and most of the resolutions required getting a computer with better specs or using FCPX/Adobe Premiere.
If these are truly the only solutions, is it worth the transition to FCPX? I used the program for about a month before switching back to 7 due to sheer frustration, but maybe it was just my fondness for the older program as opposed to X's new layout.
Or can this problem be solved some other way? Any help is appreciated.

what is the output format of your GH4? As I know that GH4 can shoot as mp4,mov and AVCHD. those formats ought to be imported into your FCP 7? Or if you don't want to switch your FCP7 tp FCPX, how about convert your video into other formats? Like Prores, Apple intermedia codec? then load them into your FCP 7?
