EXPORTING FINAL PROJECT OUT OF FCP & RATIO SIZE IS NOT RIGHT!

Hi,

Looking for some help!

I have a final project that is done in FCP7. I want to export it to send to people and upload to vimeo.

My main problem is when I try to export.. it does not playback in quicktime player as a full screen viewable image, the ratio's are not correct. I've tried exporting as current settings, setting my ratios to 4:3, setting it to 16:9 and all different types of settings to have it expand to full view ( i've even stretched the image to fit a full 16:9 in the viewer ( Basically everything I can think of at this point ).. but when I play the export back it's always a smaller boxed view within quicktime player ( if that makes sense ) and doesnt fully reach the full screen capacity.

How can I properly set my settings of the sequence and exporting settings? (if thats the right way to ask the question).. (in order to achieve watching the video in full screen? Right now it views back in quicktime player either small, or stretched, or fuzzy, and just not how it should be when watching the final project back.

I've attached pics also!

Thanks in advance

The other picture is similar to this 16:9 attachment which is squeezed from top to bottom but instead is squeezed from left to to right so its very skinny looking.. I couldn't upload the 2nd pic for some reason.

Leon:

Try this...

Make a copy of your sequence, and from that copy go to your sequence settings and check the box for Anamorphic 16:9. Does this resolve your issue? This setting should preserves the correct aspect ratio, and display your video correctly.

Thank you Craig,

That did preserve the correct aspect ratio for a final export. Greatly appreciate it.

I see your fc profile is within sports broadcast.

I've done past work with SNY ( Sportsnet New York ) / and some other freelance video editing projects within NYC.

here's a link to some of my work, hope you enjoy.

Glad everything worked out for you.

Have you started playing around in FCPX yet?

I haven't gotten to much into FCPX but have been thinking of upgrading. I hear it's a better software as far as upgrading from FCP7 goes... True?

Leon:

As far as "better," that's all subjective.

However, I recently made the switch exclusively to FCPX from FCP7, and I'm glad I did. For me, the "bark" of switching was much worse than the "bite." Check out my post in the FCP7 forum about switching, which included upgrading to Mavericks while trying to keep FCP7 intact.

Go for it. You won't be sorry!
