Multicam Won't Engage Properly was created by drdimento
I am editing FCP7 HDV material (that was converted from HDV) and the problem is that when I set up the multicam the normal way the multicam won't function properly for some reason. Here is what I normally do:
1. Drag the multicam clip to the timeline.
2. Click the center drop down box over the Viewer and Select "Open" (the multicam clip becomes visible)
3. Click on the timeline anywhere (the multicam is visible in the viewer and the timeline output in the canvas)
4. Either hit the space bar or click the Play button on the Canvas player (the multicam plays in sync with the canvas)
5. Select the respective cameras in the way I want them viewed.
6. Etc., etc. etc.
What is happening is that when I click the Play button or space bar after step 3. (in other words in step 4.) the Viewer changes to the camera that is selected in the multicam and both Viewer and Canvas play the same clip (the one that was last selected) and when I click the Play button or space bar again, the clip stops, the Viewer now goes back to the Multicam clip.
On checking all selections are proper to "Open" and the Timeline selected. Please help?

Answered it myself by thinking about what had happened just prior
Delete the Render Files AND to avoid the problem henceforth under "User Preferences" > General (tab) > AutoRender (turn off)
Apparently after auto-rendering, the viewer will no longer play the multicam clip but instead the rendered file which of course is a sort of "final" rendered file.
