Option key quirk

Option key quirk was created by Kitaboo
I've been editing with FCP7 for ages. Today I've been snagged by something I've never encountered before. The functionality of my Option key when selecting clips in the Timeline has somehow been reversed. By default, of course, Option Click lets you select parts of a clip on an individual track, rather than all the linked audio and video tracks. Inexplicably, I now have the reverse: I have to use Option Click to select linked audio and video, while simply clicking on a clip only selects whichever track the cursor is pointing to. Very strange! And annoying. Has anyone encountered this? Any suggestions for switching things back to the original FCP settings? Thanks.

Verify the status of the Link button in the timeline window.

That's it! The link toggle button had been inadvertently clicked off. With it back on, everything's working the way it should.

Thanks!

The Option key simply does the opposite of the Link button status. That is its normal function.
