A way to use an effect on multiple files and batch them...?

I have a large amount of files I want to process with the same effect and then export. Is there a way to not do it one at a time and instead batch them? I know there is batch export in fcp7 but is there a way to include an effect with the same preset for all of them and then batch them?

Drop them all into a Project timeline, select all (Command-A), double-click the effect you want to apply. Then hit R for the Range tool, double-click the first one, Command-E to export it. Then while that's exporting double-click the next. There is no batch export for what you want to do at this time.
