Two people working on one project

Two people working on one project was created by archgoat
I am working on a project with another person and we are trying to set it up so that we can both be editing simultaneously. We've been doing this by setting up a main harddrive and a satellite harddrive and, when a timeline is completed on the satellite harddrive, putting a copy of the project file onto a flash drive and dropping it into the main harddrive. From there we copy+paste the timeline into the copy of the project on the main harddrive. This seems to be working but whenever we open the project file from the satellite harddrive on the main harddrive all of our media is disconnected and we need to reconnect it. I am wondering if there is a way we can go about it that we won't have to reconnect media every time. It would be preferable if there is a way that would allow us to continue doing things as we are but any alternatives would be welcome too! Thanks

Thanks! Is there any reason this wouldn't work with FCP7?

Media managament and shared workflows are completely different in both FCP7 and FCPX. I supposed you were using FCPX. If you are in FCP7, I guess you will have to reconnect your files over and over, but I'm not 100% positive if there is a workaround.

Duplicate your event in FCPX to the satellite drive. Don´t do this on the Finder-level, but within FCPX!
Now when you create projects and copy them back and forth between the machines/drives you only have to change the event reference: when you open a project/timeline from the satellite on the main drive you will probably be offline (red icons). Select the Project in the Project library and in the inspector click "Modify Event References". It is one click.
The first time I would duplicate the whole Project onto the flashdrive. After that you can just send the "currentversion" file (via airdrop or flashdrive).
