Import from Sony j 30 doesn't work after upgrade to mountain lion

I was able to import from the same j30 prior to upgrade, but since then, have been unable to even display pics from the machine. The j 30 will display and play both sdi and pal pictures so suggest j 30 is ok?. The upgrade to mountain lion was a so called dirty upgrade, as in downloaded from apple site and then upgraded without re installing fcp afterwards. Should this make a difference?

Assuming you are trying to import into FCPX. Try trashing the preferences using the free prefs manager from Digital Rebellion, restart and see if the import now works.
