iTunes Songs Not Recognized in FCPX after moving library

When I originally installed FCPX, my iTunes library was on an external FW drive. iTunes songs all showed up within fcpx and played fine. I have since duplicated and copied my iTunes library over to an internal sata-II drive in my Mac Pro so the songs would always be available without having to power on an external drive.

Now, in FCPX, the songs and directories show up, but they won't play and FCPX tells me it can't play the song because it can't locate the original file. Anyone know where the link to the iTunes library is stored in FCPX. I have trashed FCPX prefs and restarted after the iTunes library was changed to the internal drive, but FCPX still won't play any of the songs.

EDIT: I should add that if I power up my external FW drive, all the songs become active again within FCPX, so the app still thinks to point to my original FW drive location.

Report that one to Apple ASAP! That's going to be an issue for some users over time for sure!

Try using "Preference Manager" to delete FCPX's pref files. Maybe that will reset it.

I did use prefs manager and deleted them and rebooted after moving the library...no help.

Well crap! Fill out the feedback for again, specify BUG. This is really odd. So we now know that FCPX can not keep track of you moving an iTunes library to a new location. That's not good. I can't think of anything else to do. Is iTunes itself playing the new library OK?

Yes, iTunes plays fine and syncs fine to my iPod. It's just that FCPX can't seem to track its location. It still points to the original location that works if I turn on the external drive, but not the new location on the internal drive.

have you tried to Consolidate or Reorganize (peak your poison) your files in iTunes?
Sounds like FCPX is still seeing your old database structure from iTunes.

If you to to iTunes/File/Preferences/Advanced Tab what does it show as the iTunes Media Folder Location? Does this change if the external drive is plugged in?

I checked my iTunes preferences and the path is correct to my internal sata drive (which is not my system drive by the way). I did not want to consolidate as this would place all my songs on my system drive in the iTunes media folder.

But, going into preferences gave me an idea. I selected to turn on "Share my library on the local network". I did this and then restarted FCPX and now all the songs are active and work fine.

Thanks for all the suggestions.
