I plan to shoot a slow motion music video using my 60D and editing on FCP X. I plan to shoot at 60 fps, but how would I edit the video? Is there a tutorial I can find to help me with this? I just cant imagine how the audio/video would be in sync..

Thx in advance

So you want a tutorial where you edit the slowed down footage to the normal audio?
I am guessing you want the 60 fps conform in a "30" fps timeline, yes? If so try having the musicians perform twice the speed. ;)

Are you talking about lip synch? If the point of shooting 60 fps is to "overcrank" and slow the footage down, then it won't be in normal sync with audio anyway, assuming you're shooting the band playing at normal speed and the band performing to a playback track of their song.

If you just want slow motion footage to go along with your song, then there's really no issue if you're not trying to maintain lip synch. You just conform your 60 fps footage to your 24p timeline by right click and choosing Retime Footage....

Well I suppose you could take the soundtrack and speed,it up by 250% for on set playback and have your band perform to to it. Then shoot it at 60fps and the put it in a 24 fps timeline and slow it down to 40% The action around them would be slowed down but the band's lip synch would match the 100% speed track you cut to.

Otherwise, there's not much of a way to synchronize the picture and the recording if you shoot at one rate and edit at another.

As mentioned from myself and PaulG, try the speed up the musicians performance.
You will get cool effect. B)

Yes, I've done this before, what Scrub said, but it's tricky. But you need to figure out how much you want to slow down, then speed up the song track by that much, then burn that to a CD and play it for the lip sync on set with the band. When you slow it down in post, they're signing will be slow motion, but match the speed of the original song.
