Duplicating Project makes a folder instead? Glitch?

Duplicating Project makes a folder instead? Glitch? was created by Editor d
I'm working on a Avid ISIS shared storage system. However, I am on a Mac tower and we are a Mac shop. Media and Events are on a footage workspace and projects are on a separate project workspace. When I try to duplicate a project it makes a new folder instead? I have no idea why. Thoughts?

That's the way the app works. The project folder contains a lot of elements include the render files for that project, hence the new folder. Every project is called Currentversion.fcpproject and is in its own folder.

I get that but it's not duplicating the sequence or project. It just makes an empty folder?

Really? You're selecting the project in the project library and pressing Cmd-D, or something like that? And you're getting an empty folder in the Final Cut Projects folder? That's not good.

Correct that is exactly what's happening.

Try this. Quit the app. In the Finder in the Final Cut Projects folder, duplicate the project folder. What happens when you relaunch FCP?

That does work.
I also found that if I copy the project to my boot drive through the FCP X app and then back again it will duplicate it that way to.
Probably has something to do more with Lion not liking the Avid drives. We can't search the drives in Lion because Lion doesn't like anything but Mac OS extended format.

That's weird. Maybe because it's a SAN? I'll have to look at this.

My engineer is telling me that the AVID ISIS engines are windows formatted in some way (not sure what type, fat 32 etc) but it talks to our MACs through the ISIS Client Manager app. Similar to a Unity system.
When we updated to Lion the search feature in the OS won't work with any mounted workspaces. They say they are working on it but AVID blames Apple and Apple won't say anything.

Hhhmmm. I can search DOS disks without problem. Must be a SAN thing.
