Hey, Final Cut Studio 3 worked smooth and fine, but after I installed FCPX everything is very slow, it's almost impossible to edit movies. What is wrong, bugs???? Can anyone come up with an solution, is Apple aware of it and realising an update.

Hardware specs? This is not something that's common, in fact, after doing a Lion upgrade, most folks say FCP 7 runs faster. But I'm not aware of FCP 7 running any different after installing FCP X.

Run Disk Utility and Repair all your drives, try that first.
Verify all drives have at least 15% of their total capacity as free space.
Disk Warrior is something I recommend running once a month to rebuild directories on all your drives, too.

iMac, core2 Duo, 2 Mb RAM, 1 TB HD. I uppgraded to FCPX, so i can't launch FCS 3. I shal try wat you recomend. But i've seen in multiple forums that people have the same problem, the systems are slowed up after upgrading to FCPX, and nobody has come up with an solution that works. The bathball is frequently running

Actually, depending on how old your iMac is, you may have too weak of a graphics card. Also, 2GB RAM is too little, period. With FCP X you'll want a minimum of 8, if not 12-16 ideally.

And yes, you can still launch Final Cut Studio 3. The apps are all now in a folder called "Final Cut Studio" in your Applications folder. You can't launch both at once, but you can launch one version at a time on the same system.

Folks with slow Mac's I'm finding have barely adequate graphics cards, and very little RAM.

And I'll assume your media (Events) are on an external FW800 drive, too.

Thnx. I will contact the local dealer to see if they can upgrade my iMac with more RAM and new graphic card. You see I was concerned because FCS3 worked smoothly, the problems started after installing/upgrading to FCPX. I have LION installed too. Thnx again for responding to this. I will get back after upgrading, give you feedback. Have a nice day.

I have now upgraded to 4GB RAM (that's the maximum in my iMac) and FCPX is now running smooth, no bathball and I can actually use the program. It really helped me, so thnx for Your advise.
