Here's a little something I just discovered.
Over the years I have amassed a fairly comprehensive sound effects library. (Thousands and thousands) So big I manage it with iTunes as a separate Library.
Working in FCPX in the Music and Sound browser I thought I try and drag that directory to the top window.
Well it creates an item called "Folders" and in there it placed my entire SFX Library. (Not copied just pointers) Now I can browse the library from within FCPX and drag and drop straight to the timeline. ;)
