I am having a bit of trouble here. I made a generator for fcpx and when I cut or trim the out point, it actually changes the speed of the clip.

How do I stop it from doing that?

It's the way the generator has been built. Simplest way is to make it a compound clip, and trim the CC.

Original generator was a motion project. Then it was published as a template. Is there anyway to fix this?

Put the generator in the timeline. Select it. Press Opt-G. That makes it a compound clip. Trim the compound clip. The speed will remain constant.

Otherwise you have to change the speed of the generator in Motion.

Specifically what generator are we talking about? What exactly does the generator do? Who was it built.

Like Tom said, if trimming changes it's timing, that was built into the generator and must be changed in the original Motion project and saved. Until then, put it in a Compound and trim the CC.

I made the generator. It started as a motion project.
