Size of FCPX updates?

I have read from other users that the 10.0.4 update was only 150MB for them (which seems unlikely). For me, updating in app store was 1.48G for fcpx, almost that much for Motion 5.04 and roughly .5G for compressor. Even the last release was similar in size for the updates. Any thoughts?

There is no "update." Apple just puts up the app. It's always a full download.

FCPX was very quick for me; seemed about 150mb.

The Motion update initially said it was about 200mb I think, so I started that, expecting it to be quick as well. It was nearly finished downloading, and I left the computer for a few minutes. When I came back I saw Motion was then downloading 1.24gb! I'm half way through the download right now (695mb and slowly counting).

Very strange. The FCPX was definitely a small one though, because I have a pretty slow connection (the 1.24gb download has been going for about 3 hours now, while the FCPX load was done in well under half an hour).

Seems to be dependent on the OS for me > Snow Leopord is a small update.

Mine was 1.48 on my MBP but then thought I would update my MacPro version over night (not the fastest connection:-)) and when I clicked update the update is only 141.99MBs!

Motion is 200MB

BTW both Lion OS

Just finished the FCPX update on MacPro which was only 141MB
Opened it and I have a warning box appear saying that
'Projects & Events must be updated to work with this version of Final Cut Pro' then it goes on to say 'Updated projects and Events cannot be opened in earlier versions of FCP. To update them click OK'

Bit strange seeing that is that common? After I clicked OK and opened FCPX it froze and I had to force quit!

Every release I installed since 10.0.2 gave the same dialog about updating projects. I always clicked OK and FCPX showed projects being updated (runs really fast depending on how many open projects you have active). I never had any problems in doing that.

I am puzzled by the 141MB size though. Be nice to get to the bottom of that.

It's annoying for us users with slow internet connections.

I was originally using Snow Leopard when FCPX came out and the first couple of updates were very large. I was told if I switched to Lion then the updates would be just that, ie an update and not the whole thing again. So I switched to Lion and the updates were still huge.

So I looked at the latest update the night it came out and sure as night follows day it was 1.5GB for FCPX and Motion so I cancelled it with a view to doing it another time.

Now having just looked again FCPX is 141.99MB, Motion is 203.01MB and Compressor is 109.38 so I am happily dl them all.

No idea what's gone on there, maybe it was a glitch in the App store?

Whats even more strange is that my FCPX download was 141MB so after that downloaded I clicked to download Motion and it stated that it was 200 or so MBs so I stay clicked to download and when it finished the 200 or so it then stated downloading another 1.5GB! There is definitely something strange going on.

Thats exactly what happened to me with Motion; small update first, then the big one. But both FCPX and Compressor were just the small updates.
