Adding ambient sound to multi clip

What is the correct way to add ambient sound to a multi clip? My clips have audio tracks from two cameras and a digital audio track. I have chosen the audio track for my main sound, but this digital audio track just carries lavalier sound and no ambient sound. That sound was recorded on one of the cameras and I need to put in applause in appropriate places.

After you edit your multiclip in a Project timeline, add the ambient sound clip to it as a connected clip then. It'll be easy to use the range tool to select a range, pull down the volume level, quickly there in the timeline to duck it under the main sound were needed.

Thanks..no trouble implementing that. But what if I wanted to synch that clip as a full length ambient clip with my multi clip. Is there a good workflow for this? I do have Pluraleyes. Why would I want to do this? Well, it would provide direct control over a second audio track, and I would be able to mix or exchange one audio track with another if the sound on the main track was not as good as I had on the ambient track, just be turning the audio up or down on a one of the tracks.
