Sound Issue with Rewrapped .m2t video files was created by jacob80
Hello,
I'm a fairly new FCPX user and I'm working on my first project.
I seem to be having trouble with sound. I do editing for a car video company and I was given .m2t files to work with. I went ahead and rewrapped them using Clip Wrap so that FCPX could recognize them, and that whole preocess went very well and the sound/video of the rewrapped files was great.
Then, I assembled my entire project, exported, and I now have an issue where the video drops an audio frame about every ~1 second (see video link below). I have called Apple multiple times and we discovered a couple things.
First, we went ahead and took a small portion of one of the rewrapped source files, created a new project, exported it, and this particular exported project didn't appear to have any sound issues. Well, once I went back and lengthened the said clip in the same project and exported it again, the sound issues came back.
I called Apple again and he had me look at the format of the source file. The source file uses an MPEG Layer 2 audio format, which (from what I am told) is not optimal for editing, but more of a "delivery" format? He seemed to think this was my problem and said that I need to either import the .m2t files correctly using a camera or run the rewrapped clips through compressor to convert them into a format the FCPX will understand and play well with (Apple HighRes something or other?).
The only bummer of this whole thing is that I have a completed project with files that don't seem to want to export nicely. Is there any work around here? All I can think of is running all the files through compressor and completely rebuilding the project. This isn't ideal, but if nothing else, it may have to happen. Hopefully you guys have an alternate solution for me.
Thank you for your help, I really do appreciate it.

I would try
media-converter.sourceforge.net/
and download the accompanying AVCHD/lossless audio codec on their site. It's free, and works for me every time.
I would also look at your audio settings in your projects info. Make sure there isn't anything funny in there.

In ClipWrap there's an option to convert audio to LPCM when rewrapping (in preferences/audio).
You can try to rewrap your m2ts files using this option in a distinct folder.
Then you can relink files in your fcpx event, pointing to this new folder.

I am familiar with this setting. It seems like the last time I tried using this feature, there ended up being no sound at all. However, that could have changed since last time I did it, so I will attempt to do so.
Would it be possible to run all my rewrapped source files through Apple's compressor and just have the project point to these new files, that way I won't have to rebuild my entire project?

This option in ClipWrap works fine for me. It generates an uncompressed "raw" audio file which is the most suitable for editing.
But you can try to convert your files into Apple ProRes 422 with Compressor. Of course be careful with your original files, just convert them into a new folder, then try to relink.
