audio track wont update correctly was created by
my audio track after being trimmed down wont update. when i play i actually can still hear it outside of the bounds of whats in the timeline. funny thing is that effects do update correctly.
this is limiting me from being able to export the correct duration as well.
I have tried ditching all the render files but this doesn't help the problem. I've also tried duplicating, and copying the file and referencing that too.
it is a .wav file
thanks for any help guys.

Few things to try. First, "Preference Manager" free from Digital Rebellion will let you trash your FCP X preferences safely and correctly. Try that first.
Not sure what the sample rate and bit depth of your WAV files are, but I always work with AIFF exclusively. That's the audio coded built into digital video files anyway.
Quit and restart FCP X and see if anything changes.
MOST IMPORTANT, what hardware are you running on? Mac model, RAM, drive configuration, GPU?

If you move that audio clip to the very end of your timeline and playback, does the playhead continue moving beyond that last audio clip? Just trying to get a handle on exactly what's happening.
Is this just a single clip and not a compound clip? How exactly did you perform the trim, i.e dragging the clip to length, using the blade, etc.?
Maybe answers to these will provide a better clue.

i didn't try moving the audio clip to the end, but i clipped it just by pulling in the ends. in the end i gave up and did a trim in the good old quicktime pro. but still, it remains a mystery.

Can you post an expanded screenshot of your timeline showing the clip and indicating at what TC it plays until?

A fellow trainer just has problems with WAV files in FCP X. She converted them to AIFF and they work beautifully. Seems FCP X is buggy with WAV format.

Earlier in the thread, at your suggestion, Ben, the OP did convert his wav file to aiff.
