Friends,

I have just started using FCPX. I have a footage with a lot of video noise in it. I do not know how to reduce/remove these grains. Kindly help me out. Does FCPX have an option to reduce noise or any plugins are required.

Glenn,

I have the same dilemma as you. I have some shots that I took with three cameras of a band. Especially from one angle the drummer was really not well lit and besides the noise the images are really red because of the stage lighting.

I have researched this for a number of days and from what I found, Neatvideo.com seems to be a good choice. However, it doesn't work in FCP X yet. It should be working in motion 5 and FCP 7. Maybe this is a solution. FxFactory has a video cleaner as well. I wish something came with FCP X. Maybe in 10.0.4.

Maybe someone can guide us in the right direction who has experience in this field.

I'm new to FCP X as well and I would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who contributes to this site and the ones bringing us all the latest news. Up until recently I've been mostly involved with simpler editing in more controlled environments.

Once again thanks everyone and I hope to be able to contribute with my own free plugin one day.

Easy answer is that you can't do much about it depending on how bad it is. In low light if the camera is struggling you can increase the Gain in the camera so that the camera can produce brighter images ( thats the quick description:-)) the trade off is that gain levels that are to high produce the grain effect that you see in the picture You can't really reverse this but there are a few plugin's that might help depending on how bad the grain is. Denoiser II is now out over at Red Giant it is only available for After Effects ant the minute but I would assume that they will be making it FCPX compatible in the future.

A tip if you are shooting yourself in dark conditions or indeed anytime would be to turn AGC (automatic gain control) off on your cameras because it boosts the cameras signal, especially in low light, to silly gain levels to brighten up the picture but is always bad for the image quality.

There is one more question. How do you export a video in different formats like .avi, .vob etc..?

If you want to do multiple export settings at one time, Send To Compressor in the Share menu.

Compressor won't do AVI. You need something like Episode or Sorenson. VOB is not an encoding function; it's an authoring function. It's creating by muxing the audio for DVD burning.

Neat Video is really impressive, but I'm having a problem: FCPX is crashing when I apply it on a clip which is not on the Primary storyline.
Am I the only one having this issue?

Nothing wrong with AVI but it is becoming less requested from customers.
Yeah I am very surprised that Apple didn't put in a denoiser, who ever brings one out first for FCPX will make a good buck.
Well a good one. ;)
